Rajmachi Fireflies Trek
In Rajmachi Fireflies trek you can see lightning bugs make light within their bodies. This process is called bioluminescence and is shared by many other organisms, mostly sea-living or marine organisms. Firefly a soft-bodied beetle related to the glow-worm, the winged male and flightless female of which both have luminescent organs. The light is chiefly produced in flashes and typically functions as a signal between the sexes. Fireflies light up to attract a mate. To do this, the fireflies contain specialized cells in their abdomen that make light.
Rajmachi is a fort in Karjat region. There are two forts which were built by Shivaji Emperor during 17th century. It is a famous spot for trekking. Rajmachi fort is a strategic fort overlooking Borghat(ghat between Mumbai and Pune) which was a historical trade route. Rajmachi peak has two fortified structures – the Shrivardhan fort and Manoranjan fort. Rajmachi can be reached by 2 ways, the tough route from Kondivide village near Karjat and the other easy but long way route from Lonavala. In rainy season this place is filled with giant waterfalls and greenery. Rajmachi has very rich history.

Assembling
– Reach base village by 10:00 PM
The Ascend
– Dinner at 10:30 PM , and start Trek after introduction round and Do’s & Don’ts.
– Head for a jungle walk and experience Fireflies.(No Trekking required here)
– Dayoff Go to Sleep.
The Descend
– Climb Shreevardhan fort to witness Beautiful Sunrise (optional)
– People who are not interested in trekking can relax and have Fun in the Lake and visit kalbhairavnath temple which is near by.
– Back to Villager House for Tea Breakfast
Return
– Reach Dadar by 02:00 PM (~tentatively)
